Our Community Planting

The Ridgefield Garden Club helps plant and maintain local community spaces, keeping them beautiful and cared for. Their volunteer efforts add color, life, and pride to shared public areas.

Davis Park Native Plant Berm

Planted by the club to support pollinators and wildlife and to educate the community, the Native Plant Berm showcases plants useful in landscaping and home gardens.  Thirty native species are growing in the berm including: River Lupine, Coyote Brush, Blanketflower, Oregon Sunshine, Douglas Meadowfoam, Native Columbine, Bunchberry, Oregon Oxalis, Evergreen Huckleberry, Kinnickkinik, and Goldenrod.

Downtown Planter Boxes

Twice a year, members replant the boxes with seasonal, climate-appropriate plants that show passersby what is possible in their own gardens. They also keep the plants healthy by watering, weeding, and removing dead growth.

Abrams Park Ivy Pulls

The Garden Club partners with the City to remove invasive English Ivy at Abrams Park.  Invasive ivy topples trees, smothers other plants, and reduces wildlife food sources and habitat by as much as 80%.   Removal of ivy helps bring back native plant species and habitat.  Volunteers are always welcome!
